Every point inside the half space is drawn, including those nearest the fault where the field is largest and where a quadrature scheme is most strained. Nothing is masked out, because the two states differ only in whether the free surface is present — so hiding a region would hide exactly the comparison this page is for. Colour is on a log scale; the difference state shows the magnitude of a signed difference.

The field is stored quantised: log10 into one byte per grid point, 254 levels, with zero reserved for “outside the body”. That is not for file size — a float32 3-D texture simply cannot be linearly filtered on roughly half of iOS devices, and it fails by rendering black with no error raised. The quantisation error is bounded by arithmetic rather than asserted: 254 levels across d decades put the levels d/253 apart, so the worst relative error is 10d/506 − 1. The build measures what it wrote against that bound and refuses to publish a payload that exceeds it. See Concepts for what the eigenstress subtraction means, and Running for the calls that produced this.
